CEFN Pig Production

CEFN Pty Ltd owns and operates a total of 4000 sows on 3 breeding units located near Clifton in Queensland. There are a total of 420 sows in nucleus production supplying breeding stock to the multiplication sows within the 3200 commercial sows.

CEFN Pig Production employs a total of 38 farm and support staff to run and operate the pig production business.

Nucleus / Multiplication

CEFN Pig Production produces breeding program for Cefn Genetics using G/GP Landrace and G/GP Large Whites in the Dam lines and G/GP Belgian Landrace and G/GP Yorkshire in the Sire Lines from the high health nucleus.

	Cefn Pig Production produces all technical support to Cefn Genetics’ multiplication units via the supply of Semen.
	The strict bio security and production protocols along with the high attention to detail constantly practiced are important to optimise performance and produce high quality products.
	The herds operate with either GP Large White or GP Landrace females mating with either pure bred boars or pyramid semen to produce the CLIFTON GILT (parent female)

Commercial Production

In view of the location, scale, changing customer requirements and the excellent genetic improvement achieved in recent years, CEFN Pig Production now operates 3200 CLIFTON sows on 2 units producing slaughter stock between 72-80 kilos deadweight. The Meatmaster boars are supplied from our nucleus unit.

The commercial units are averaging almost 21 pigs sold per sow per year

All pigs are marketed to long term customers both domestically and in Singapore

The commercial units aim to optimise breeding and growth performance whilst also focusing on over-head and feed cost per kilo produced.
